·
In 1999-2000, I helped to pass permanent income tax cuts. Those cuts put
millions of dollars back in Minnesotan’s pockets.
·
In 2001, I was one of the architects of a Landmark Property Tax reform bill.
Edina residents’ property taxes were cut by millions of
dollars - more than any other city in the state.
·
I authored the constitutional amendment that you voted to adopt, to
dedicate motor vehicle sales taxes to transportation.
·
I authored legislation benefiting Edina residents by lifting the cap so
that school districts to could increase local school
funding, by referendum - in the absence of the
legislature itself providing sufficient funding..
·
I authored legislation to correct the faulty design of the new Crosstown
Commons reconstruction project – earning me the label of
a ‘transportation expert’.
·
I have repeatedly helped to pass legislation to reduce the property tax
structure for cabin and lake homes for all Minnesotans.
·
For years I have authored and co-authored
the major
transportation and transit bills. Considered the
Minnesota House's transportation expert, I was twice
invited to the White House in 2007 for transportation
conferences.
The Legislature passed a major transportation funding package this year.
With the transportation debate at a deadlock,
legislators reached a bipartisan compromise that will
begin to meet the state’s transportation needs. Even
though the funding bill received bipartisan support from
legislators and organizations like the Minnesota Chamber
of Commerce, the governor vetoed the bill. Rep. Erhardt
joined six other Republicans to override the veto.
The veto override result was Exactly as 61%
of Edina residents contacting my office wanted me to do.
Edina Residents were tired of wasteful transportation
gridlock and our failing transportation
infrastructure.
I am proud of what I have accomplished for the
citizens of Edina and Minnesota. I thank you for your
support over these many years. I ask for your support
again.
